Mary Fahl and Band - Winter Songs
Mary Fahl and Band – Winter Songs
With an earthy, viscerally powerful contralto that bridges the generational gap between Fairport Convention’s Sandy Denny and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid, Mary Fahl makes music that feels timeless, esoteric and ecumenical. Her elegant, cinematic songs have a hauntingly gothic romanticism that inspired renowned writer Anne Rice to portray Mary’s voice emanating from a dead woman’s room in her 2013 novel The Wolves of Midwinter…
Over the past few years, she’s been touring and recording on her own label, Rimar Records, and her recent releases have garnered awards including an Indie Acoustic Award for Best Live Album for “Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House” (filmed for PBS) and a 2020 Independent Music Award for her recent holiday album, “Winter Songs and Carols”. Her latest release, a Blu-ray 5.1 surround DVD, “From the Dark Side of the Moon”, brilliantly mixed by Bob Clearmountain, won the 2021 Immersive Album Audio Listener’s Choice award and was named “Immersive Album of the Year” by Life in Surround.
Mary Fahl’s performance is a co-presentation of FHPAC and The Fanatics Pub.

Close To You - Music of the Carpenters
Close to You – The Music of the Carpenters
Considered one of the best vocalists of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with her unabashedly catchy pop music. The Carpenters’ beautiful, memorable love songs topped the Billboard charts with more than a dozen number one hits. Now singer Lisa Rock and her 6-piece band are bringing the music of The Carpenters back to the stage with their spot-on renditions of Carpenters classics with Close to You: The Music of The Carpenters. Lisa Rock, a singer as well as a playwright, has been performing to sold-out crowds for years. She’s written more than 30 original concerts and cabarets that have been seen across the country. Now, Rock has arranged a 6-piece band, complete with back-up singers, and together they are dedicated to creating a Carpenters experience like no other. Rock’s amazing four octave range allows her to sing the hits like “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Rainy Days and Mondays” in their original key, keeping the songs genuine and more recognizable for the audience. “When she hits the lower range of her marvelous voice,” notes critic Alan Bresloff, “if you close your eyes, you can see Karen Carpenter’s face.” But Rock goes beyond the music in her concert. She draws the crowd in with anecdotes about Karen Carpenter, her life and how some of the songs originated. Rock engages the audience to the point where they can’t help but sing along with her and share the memories of The Carpenters and their music.

ChamberFest Canandaigua: Poets at the Piano
ChamberFest Canandaigua: Poets at the Piano
Tonight’s program is filled with mystery, longing, and virtuosity. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B-flat minor opens with a tense and melancholic prelude that gives way to a masterful fugue in five voices (one of only two fugues of this character in the entire Well-Tempered Klavier). Mozart’s Fantasie, left unfinished at the time of the composer’s death, is a temperamental and moody work in seven distinct sections. From the opening notes of the immediately recognizable Ballade No. 1, one understands why Chopin called it his “dearest work.” This daring work takes the Sturm und Drang movement to epic, dreamlike heights. Gershwin’s delightful “It Ain’t Necessarily So” gives way to Schumann’s rich and colorful Piano Quartet. For more information visit www.chamberfestcanandaigua.com

Letters Aloud
This event has been postponed. Check back for the reschedule date in Fall 2024
Letters Aloud — a captivating odyssey across time and place. Since 2014, they have traveled the country, sharing the powerful and intimate letters of individuals who have left their mark on history. With a power to evoke both laughter and deep emotion, these letters serve as a testament to humanity’s extraordinary ability to unearth hope, purpose, and happiness amidst life’s challenges. Mixing historic letters with musical accompaniment and audience participation, this will be a magical evening.
Thanks but no thanks - the best rejection letters EVER! The road to success is paved with rejection and boy oh boy, have we got the letters to prove it! Among the dozens of gems in Letters Aloud’s newest show, Stephen King receives his first rejection letter from “Spacemen Magazine”, Andy Warhol is asked to pick up his painting at the front desk before it is hauled away, Gertrude Stein gets a taste of her own repetitive medicine, a young Sidney Poitier tries to borrow $100 from President Franklin Roosevelt (he said no), and a 17-year-old college applicant rejects the rejection letter she receives from Duke University. But our rejectees don’t let the naysayers get them down. Karma and perseverance combine to hilarious and heartwarming results!
