Garth Fagan Dance is Western New York’s leading artist-led, predominantly Black cultural institution, dedicated to developing young dancers, particularly those of color. Known for his groundbreaking Tony Award-winning choreography for The Lion King on Broadway, Garth Fagan is widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic and original artists in the field. With a distinct movement style that fuses modern dance, Afro-Caribbean movement, ballet, and postmodern dance, Fagan has created over 75 works for theater and concert stages worldwide. Celebrating a 54-year legacy of groundbreaking dance and worldwide touring, Garth Fagan Dance is excited to launch its inaugural Finger Lakes residency at the Fort Hill Performing Arts Center. This highly anticipated return to the Finger Lakes Region will feature innovative new choreography by Artistic Director Norwood ‘PJ’ Pennewell and Executive Director Natalie Rogers-Cropper, as well as powerful revivals by the company’s founder and Distinguished Artistic Director Emeritus, Garth Fagan.
